Commission supports Liverpool University Gannet Study in Alderney

24 May 2011

The Commission has agreed to support a study by the University of Liverpool in conjunction with Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) and the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).

The study will commence in June and will collect baseline data on the foraging habits of Alderney's gannets. The study includes the deployment of up to 20 GPS data loggers on the gannets during the first week in June.  The University of Liverpool will supply 10 GPS data loggers to match the 10 sponsored by the Commission.

The results will be publishable in a peer-reviewed journal and data will be in the joint ownership of University of Liverpool, AWT, BTO and the Commission.
